in: Nokia, 8600

The Nokia 8600 Luna is the first cellular phone to use unique materials such as opaque smoked glass and fine stainless steel. Inspired by the Roman goddess of moonlight, the keypad lights pulsate when the phone is closed, showing through the smoked glass cover. With a 2″ 16M color display, this luxurious phone can display your favorite images crisp and clear. Other features like stereo Bluetooth, 2MP camera and quad-band GSM with EDGE make this phone one of our favorite combinations of form and function.

Nokia-8600-Luna The luxury black phone has a sliding body, 2 megapixel camera, FM radio and 1GB internal memory. Furthermore, the Luna uses a clear and crisp OLED screen. The front is covered in black glass, while the back is made out of stainless-steel. Today Nokia announced a new ultra high-end fashion phone, the 8600 Luna. When the smooth action slider is closed, the keypad is secured behind dark, semi-opaque glass where it softly pulsates in what Nokia describes as a heartbeat.

In terms of specs, the quad-band GSM/EDGE 8600 Luna runs Nokia’s S40 user interface. It measures 107mm x 45mm x 16mm (4.2″ x 1.8″ x .6″) and weighs a solid 143g (5oz). Its QVGA (240×320 pixel) display can generate 16 million different colors, and the 900mAh battery that powers it all is rated for 10 days of standby time or 3 hours and 40 minutes of talk time.

The Luna has a 2 megapixel camera on board that can also record 176×144 pixel video clips. The music player application can handle MP3, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+ media files. One other significant aspect of the new 8600 Luna is that it is the first Nokia device to make use of the new micro-USB connector. This new connector, which is also used by Motorola’s recently launched RAZR2 line, can be used for both data and charging tasks. Nokia today unveiled the Nokia 8600 Luna, which has been precision engineered from the glass. The melding of nearly opaque smoked glass with unique, soft-touch stainless steel makes the Nokia 8600 Luna as enchanting to behold as it is a joy to touch. Adding to its mysterious allure, a gentle keypad illumination pulsates from beneath the glass case while the phone awaits a call.
